CHLA Urges VA to Ensure Fair Treatment for Veterans Following End of VASP Program

Washington, D.C –  April 14, 2025 – In the wake of the Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase (VASP) program’s conclusion, the Community Home Lenders of America (CHLA) has formally called on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to take swift and transparent action to support our nation’s veterans during this critical transition.

In a letter sent to the VA, CHLA emphasized the importance of a fair and equitable process for veterans and their families, outlining two key requests:

  • A new transition period of at least 60 days following the VA’s formal publication of the program change.
  • A clear, written explanation from the VA defining the scope and impact of the VASP deadline.

“Veterans deserve clarity, fairness, and ample time to adjust,” said Scott Olson, Executive Director of CHLA. “As the VASP program sunsets, it’s essential that the VA communicates clearly and provides specific guidance to ensure no veteran is left behind.”

CHLA’s advocacy reflects its ongoing commitment to protecting veterans by urging the VA to deliver detailed instructions, timelines, and support mechanisms that allow for a smooth and reasonable transition from the VASP program.
